‘toO sWeeT’ Curated By The Perez Broz @ Thinkspace Projects [LA]
The group exhibition features contributions from 50 artists working in various mediums who help form the foundation of the brothers’ artistic community

This Saturday, September 6th, Thinkspace Projects in Los Angeles hosts a fantastic and timely new group exhibition curated by The Perez Bros. Twin brothers Alejandro and Vicente Perez (born 1994) are from South Gate, CA, and are heavily influenced by lowrider car events and the greater culture surrounding them. They’ve channeled this aesthetic and representation through their work in fine art and painting. Although it isn’t stated outright, the group of artists assembled for this new show brings representation not only to their individual group of friends and colleagues, but to a greater culture of resilience and beauty thriving despite oppression. “toO sWeeT” is the exact type of show we need right now. It offers a display of work and vision by groups that our country loves to extract and appropriate the flavor from, yet refuses to acknowledge for their brilliance, ingenuity, richness, and, worst of all, humanity. ‘toO sWeeT” is described as a “presentation of 50 artists, working in a variety of mediums, that help to form the foundation of the brothers’ artistic community.”
The press release elaborates by speaking more to the importance of unity between those within a community.
“The term “too sweet” comes from the 90’s WCW faction New World Order (nWo). A simple hand gesture that started as a symbol of camaraderie and brotherhood within the faction, later evolved to represent a connection between wrestlers and unity within a faction. The group show ‘toO sWeeT’ curated by The Perez Bros pays tribute to that, by bringing together a group of friends and peers that the brothers admire.“
