Esoteric Drops New Quarantine Joint “Stir Crazy”
The Boston lyricist vents his frustrations about the Covid-19 pandemic and cabin fever in a brand new track produced by Jeremy Page of The Czar-Keys
Everyone is losing they damn mind. As we recently addressed with our post about Ty Seagall‘s new Harry Nilsson cover EP, a lot of artists are utilizing their time at home to finally knock out some project ideas that they’ve been kicking around for a while, but didn’t have the sufficient time or motivation to get to. Others are throwing their energy into art and music simply to take their minds off of the global pandemic, the problems it has created, and the fact that they are held up inside with this quarantine. Boston‘s MC Esoteric has opted to do something slightly different. Rather than focus is his mind on a different topic in a alternate direction, the Czarface member opted to attack the situation head on by releasing a quarantine specific track, aptly titled “Stir Crazy.”
Eso dropped this one earlier today offering it for free to anyone who signs up for the Czarface newsletter. The track, which he claims came about “after weeks of isolation and grocery store navigation,” was produced by Jeremy Page. Page is also part of the Czarface production trio, The Czar-Keys, alongside DJ 7L and Todd Spadafore. Meanwhile, the slick cover art featuring Covid-19 quarantine related references like toilet paper, Lysol wipes, Purell, masks, and tigers, was created by Alfredo Social Studies and hip hop illustrator, Adrian “Gift Revolver” Gutierrez.
Check out “Stir Crazy” below, followed by the full transcript of the lyrics.
Lyrics:
What up Shay? nah none of that today
We ain’t gonna shoot the breeze from even 6 feet away
And hey when I’m getting groceries, stand back don’t approach me
I sanitize everything I panic-buy mostly
My mind focused yo I’m feeling like I’m at war
Gloves on, mask on, going thru the glass doors
Grab the carriage, pull it out, wipe it down
i’m past trying to look cool, i’m full psycho now
Older dudes flexing in the frozen food section
I respect ’em as my brethren so I gotta keep steppin
Life’s a bitch, 6 wild chicks in aisle 6
Handpicking different style chips with their vile mitts
Now I’m feeling homicidal, shit,
I liken it to Outbreak
I’m ’bout to break and flip, fishing for survival tips
The sirloin is sold out, no doubt I caught an L
Vanished like the Purell, Cold-eze, and Cottonelle
And I’m convinced everybody got a fever
I’m feeling like my debit gonna get it from the chip reader
I’ll bag my own stuff, careful at the checkout
Salute to the cashiers but I gotta get out!
Flow Quarantined by the CDC
I’m going Stir Crazy, but you were crazy
before the outbreak and now you driving her crazy…
One time for the people on the frontline
Shout to nurses, they’re the heroes when it’s crunchtime
I’m seeing people promise that they’re gonna stay home
Then they try to go viral licking a payphone
Or they link up with friends and call it quarantine
It seems they don’t understand what the word means
Everybody going live for an audience of 5
But I support it if it keeps your stupid ass inside
You should be home, being safe and bored
Or playing with your laser sword to Maitland Ward, praise the lord
You know what gets me? let’s see…people on FB
They talking like they’re the CDC
And I’m bout to go psychotic if I hear another peep
About this Joe Exotic, I get it, I got, I saw it
I thought it was a product that was wild, evil at best
And I’d love to watch a sequel where tigers eat him to death
I ain’t a madman that’s stockpiling guns
But yo, we ain’t shaking hands til 2021
And those goes for anyone, even my own kid
The only 19 that I be messing with is Tony Gwynn
Word, I’m slightly disturbed like Wendy Byrde
And peace to the pizza guy, leave it on the curb
