It seems like every day, I find something new that I convince myself I should own. On one hand, I view myself as staunchly anti-capitalist, yet on the other hand, I’d like to be wearing this fancy new finger jewelry that I just discovered. Most ironic is that the item I have my sights on today is a brand-new, officially licensed “Fascinator Ghoul” ring inspired by the sci-fi classic They Live. For those unfamiliar, John Carpenter wrote the script in response to the Reagan era and the blatant obsession with greed in the 1980s.
One of the most effective ways to get my money is to be an independent artist creating products critical of consumerism itself. I’ll never even know once I’ve gone full circle and begun eating my own tail. I love John Carpenter, the product looks solid, and I already have an established respect for the artist behind them.

The rings are crafted by HAN CHOLO whom I first became aware of after he worked with the late MF DOOM to design an official mask ring for the legendary rapper/producer back in 2014. This THEY LIVE piece is a limited edition SDCC release, but is currently being offered as a preorder on his website, while supplies last. The retail price is $50.
